  4. 1. Edmond Dantes, a sailor was sentenced to imprisonment because of false accusation: Danglars, the ship accountant, resents Edmond for his success and his promotion, and Fernand Mondego, a local fisherman, is in love with Mercédès. {Edmons fiancé} decides that they will frame Edmond for treason, telling authorities that Edmond is in possession of an incriminating letter that will prove that he is a supporter of Napoleon. Napoleon is the French Emperor who has recently been stripped of his power and exiled to the island of Elba. Edmond spends fourteen years in prison. During that time, he almost goes crazy and nearly gives up on life. But then he meets anItalian prisoner (a priest) called Abbé Faria. The Abbé educates Edmond about all kinds of things, and the two figure out a way to dig an escape route out of the prison. Edmond escapes Chateau d'If by pretending to be the dead Abbé. He eventually finds his way to the island of Monte Cristo, where he finds riches beyond his wildest dreams. With this newfound treasure. Edmond reinvents himself as the Count of Monte Cristo. He used this treasure for revenge.

    2. Edmond Dantès is a kind, innocent, honest, and loving man. Though naturally intelligent, he is a man of few opinions. The Protagonist. The dynamic character.
Fernand Mondego - Dantès’s rival for Mercédès’s affections. Mondego helps in framing Dantès for treason and then marries Mercédès himself. The round character.
Mercédès - Dantès’s beautiful and good fiancée. Though Mercédès marries another man, Fernand Mondego, while Dantès is in prison, she never stops loving Dantès.

    3. The name Monte Cristo literally means Mountain of Christ.. In the movie,Monte Cristo, is a place where Edmon Dantes found his treasure, which he used to start for his long time planned revenge. And used Count of Monte Cristo a his false name to hide his real identity.
    4. Yes. When Abbe’ Faria was asking Dantes why he was imprisoned, they repeated some scenes.Scenes when he was captured by Villefort..Because of this, Dantes found out the motif of his detention. And he realized why Villefort did that. .Because of this audience will be able to know the reason for his capture.
    5. When Abbe Faria taught him many things..And gave him the treasure map. This will make a big possibility for Dantes for revenge.
Arguments between Dantes and Villefort. This scene will make the audience realized the reason why Villefort sentenced Dantes for life in prison.
The Fight tof Dantes and Fernand. This ended the cruelty of Fernand.
    6. Yes there are. Since most of thes cenes takes place in Paris, and done in the past ,they used touches of old as in fashion and carriages. Their hairstyles, their way of delivering words. And also the kind of prisonment Chateau d’if is...Really like a hell for any prisoner.

    7. When Count Monte Cristo revealed himself to Fernand to be Edmond Dantes .This scene resolved his real identity and relationship to his son Albert and to Mercedes.
8.Love that is forever and anger.I think there’s none.
9.Yes .The scene when Fernand told Edmond that he hide secret from him. This is during my elementary days .One of close friends accused me of saying something I did not say .Instead of listening to my explanation first ,he insists to believe “hear say” .And did not fight and value our friendship.
10.Very inspiring and happy ending. Yes I like the ending. All’s well that ends well.
11.Never question the power of God. Faith in Him will put things into right places.God will never leave us,He'll stays with us forever.

  5. Hi Jethro. Nice to see your answers. # 11 answer made me smile : ) that was very nice to know from an Eight grader. I have a follow up question. Having said that you were inspired by the ending, do you think vengeance caused something positive in the personality of the Dantes? (",)
